Product Description May Be Used With Wood Chunks Or Charcoal Durable Aluminized Steel Holders Make Indirect Cooking Convenient For Use On 22-1/2-In. Kettles Pair Of Holders Fill these briquet holders with charcoal or wood chunks when using the indirect cooking method on your 22-1/2-In. kettle grill. Made of durable aluminized steel to last for years to come.
Amazon.com Review Indirect cooking is the method of choice for larger cuts of meat such as ribs, roasts, whole chickens, or delicate foods like some types of fish. However, arranging hot coals evenly around the outside of a grill can prove messy, difficult, and even dangerous. This pair of fuel holders solves the problem by holding charcoal or wood chunks firmly in place, allowing you to place a pan in the center of the grill to capture drippings and prevent flare-ups. Heat from the two holders rises, reflects off the inside of the grill, and cooks slowly and evenly from all sides, much like a convection oven but with the improved texture and flavor of barbecue. Made from aluminized steel for exceptional durability, these fuel holders fit 22-1/2-inch kettle-style grills, including Weber's One Touch and Master Touch series. --Mary Park

Grilling made easier December 13, 2008 KnotU (Austin, Texas USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These things are great. I usually put them in the middle of the cooking area. It gives me direct heat in the center for searing and indirect oven like cooking around the edges. Great for chicken. A real charcol saver for me as I can pour the charcol into the trays and build a nice mound with out the strays rolling away. It has made my outdoor cooking alot easier.

This is the professionals way to control temperature in the BBQ pit for indirect cooking.
Big Basket - Only need to use half. August 1, 2008 Chi Nash (Nashville, TN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently bought theses baskets and I've cooked ribs with them twice. I have a standard Weber kettle and these baskets are probably a little too large for it. I used both halves the first time I cooked and ended up cooking my ribs too quickly because they created so much heat. The second time I only used one half of the basket and I was able to cook the ribs much slower. They turned out great this way!
Great Product! June 19, 2008 Bryan (Atlanta, GA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For charcoal enthusiasts, this is a must-have. I used to set up my indirect grilling by using tongs to move the charcoal to one side of the grate, but always had problems since the mound would be uneven. With these, it's easy to set up indirect grilling and keep the zones perfectly placed. It's simple to tell where the indirect grilling ends and the direct begins. One thing I do to go get both baskets lit is to start off with them pushed together in the center of the grate and set the chimney starter on top. Once the coals are burned down and hot, pour the coals so that they flow into each basket. Then use tongs to push the baskets to separate sides of the grill. Works much better than trying to light two individual baskets and waiting for them to burn down. Also, use two thermometers - one over the coals and another over your indirect grilling space. Typically, with full baskets, the area over the coals will get to about 600 degrees, but the indirect area stays at an awesome 350! I couldn't be happier with my new grilling accessory. Along with a chimney starter, these are my grilling 'must-haves.' Don't know why I ever grilled without them!
